Proclamation
coins from Europe
These coins are keenly
sought-after in Australia and worldwide. They are referred to as
Proclamation coins in Ausatralia following Governor King's 1800
proclamation that certain internationally-circulating coins would
have a value in the Australian colony higher than elsewhere. This
was intended to retain in the fledgling economy an adequate supply
of coinage. The following items have been selected for their visual
attractiveness, historic significance and strong investment potential.
